What is the Carbon Offset Service?
Regardless of the advancement of efficient energy usage, some emission of greenhouse gases is unavoidable. The Carbon Offset Service is an activity to cancel out such emissions of greenhouse gases, primarily carbon dioxide (CO2), by obtaining carbon emission rights through investing in CO2 reduction projects.

Choosing “Purchase of Carbon Offset Service” acquires the CO2 emission rights equivalent to the amount specified by the Hospitality Program for Shareholders from Carbon Offset Japan , a citizen-led carbon-offset activity promoter. The acquired emission rights are then transferred without charge to an account of a country.

As of February 2015, 40 shareholders had applied for purchases under the Carbon Offset Service and this in turn realized 47-ton’s worth of carbon offsets.
